Anti-dsDNA antibodies

This test is used to specifically detect the presence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and isolate it from other autoimmune conditions.  It is often used after a positive result is found in an ANA screening if signs of SLE are present in the patient.  The results of this test are measured alongside other autoantibody tests and considered with medical history and any symptoms of SLE in mind.  This test can also be used to measure the severity of SLE.
